How Often Should You Be Posting New Video Content?

In the end, creating high quality content that your viewers will click on can eliminate all those other extenuating circumstances that are preventing your content from being found by your customers.

Whether you’re a well-established brand or a new YouTuber looking to break through to the next level, this is the question we get so often as a video production company.

How often do I need to post a new video? Google searches will give you a variety of results: once a week, once a day, three times a day. Start searching by platform and you’ll find an even greater variety of answers. Some articles even recommend new TikTok creators should post up to 10 times per day.

So, are they right? Well, sort of. The short and harsh answer is there is no right answer. It’s going to vary greatly based on the account’s existing following, previous content posted, most popular platform and a myriad of different metrics tracked on each individual video.

The most important takeaway and what I think is the only right answer to such a complex question in our industry today comes down to the quality of the content you are posting. We have seen so many creators churning out low effort videos just because somebody convinced them they have to post three times a day. The fact of the matter is that if you’re putting out high quality content on a consistent basis, your viewers and, more importantly, the platform algorithms we’re fighting against, will not care how often you post or how long your videos are or what time of day they are posted at.

Mr. Beast, considered one of the greatest YouTubers of all time, is a prime example of this. Even as a young creator in the early 2010’s, he never wasted his time posting videos he didn’t think were up to his channel’s quality. He consistently delivered on his outlandish and engaging video concepts and now across his main channel, he can post as infrequently as once a month and still retain extraordinary metrics on his videos.

So to answer the age old question of this digital era: how often should I be posting content? The answer is: just post good content. You will very quickly be able to tell what good content is if you’re tracking metrics. For videos it’s views, click through rate, and watch time. For a podcast, it’s downloads and shares. For a blog it’s impressions and conversions. Over time, you’ll figure out what’s working and what’s not by using the data that’s provided for you.

And yes, that’s easier said than done. However, with today’s tools at your disposal, it has never been easier to create, test, refine, and implement new streams of content that help your business or online persona reap the rewards.
